Why I Built The Honor Roll Show

The short version

For years I have interviewed the Santa Clarita business owners I would actually trust using myself. The Honor Roll Show brings that back as a real show. No cost, no obligation, and a real conversation about what you love, what you hate, and what it takes to run it.

People ask me why I actually built The Honor Roll Show. The truth is I have been doing a version of this for years, going back well before 2021. I used to sit down with local business owners and just talk. Not the polished ones with a PR team. The real ones. The people I would trust to fix my car, feed my family, or handle my house.

Some of them were service providers. Some ran restaurants. Some were small independent shops, the kind of place that is smaller than a major chain but does the work better than any of them. And once in a while it was somebody inside a big chain who just had a philosophy worth hearing. If they were in Santa Clarita and there was something real there, something I could get into and I knew my audience could too, I put them in front of a camera.

Why owners open up

Here is what I learned doing it. When you ask an owner what they love, what they hate, and what it takes to keep the lights on, you get the real person. Not the brochure. That is where the alignment happens. The viewer sees themselves in the answer, and suddenly a stranger feels like someone they already know.

That is the entire purpose of the show. It is a way for the people who actually run this valley to be seen like they matter, because they do. And it is a way for the rest of us to figure out who is worth trusting with our money before we ever pick up the phone.

You will have an idea of what we talk about, but really it is very much from the hip. That is when it gets interesting.

No cost. No catch.

Let me be clear about the terms, because people always wait for the pitch. There is no cost. There is no obligation to anything. You come on, we talk, you walk away with a real episode and clips you own. That is it. I am not selling you a thing from that chair.

You will get a rough idea of what we cover before we record, but I do not hand you a script. The best moments come off the cuff. A side story, a customer you will never forget, the thing you did not plan to say. That is the gold, and you cannot plan it.

If you run something here, this is your seat

Season one is rolling out right now, and the early guests get the spotlight. If you own a business in the Santa Clarita Valley, or you know exactly who I should be talking to, this is the invitation. Come tell me the real version. What you love, what you hate, and what it takes to run it.

In Connor's words, from the video

"Years ago, going back to 2021 and well before, I used to interview local business owners, people I would trust using. Some were service providers, some restaurants, whatever it was. If they were in Santa Clarita and they were smaller than a major chain, or part of a chain with a really cool philosophy I could get into and I knew my listeners could, I would talk to them. What you love, what you hate, we look at those things in the interview so people get some alignment. That is the purpose of the show. There is no cost, and there is no obligation. You will have an idea of what we talk about, but really it is very much from the hip, and sometimes it gets very interesting. If you want to be on the show, you can find more information on this page. Be well. I'm Connor. We'll see you soon."
